Tap Into the Lord May 26
Jeremiah 17:7
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.
He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.
This is such a beautiful verse and promise given to us by God, and it reflects God's love towards us.
In the six verses proceeding this, God is talking about the land of Judah worshipping the Goddess Asherah, it was a form of tree worship. In II Kings 18, we see that King Hezekiah removed all the high places and cut down the groves destroying the 'works of the enemy.'
The irony is, using the analogy of a tree, God offers to make you strong! Symbolically the tree represents a nation or a person. The symbolism of root equals tapping into God's word, i.e., the Holy Spirit, represented by the stream. The Holy Spirit is not afraid of any heat the enemy may bring. When hard times come, you will not be afraid, and you will still bear fruit; reward.
Rewards can be monetary, possessions, family, or more importantly,
your treasure in heaven.
