Peace to You! April 30

John 20:21-23

Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me I also send you.”

And when He said this He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; If you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

Imagine being huddled in fear for your life, astonished at the wild trial you that you have suddenly thrust into, a furnace of circumstances the enemy has planned and implemented. Suddenly Jesus steps into the room and says: “Peace to you!”

The word peace comes from the Greek word: Eirene (i-rah'-nay). It means prosperity, Peace, quietness, rest, set at one again.

There have been times in prayer where I have felt the presence of Jesus come into the room; some people refer to it as a breakthrough in prayer; either way, it feels good. You can sense the Peace of the Lord, and you don’t want to leave.

Once while in prayer in the presence of the Lord, I had to leave for work. I felt guilty for having to go. Like a father patting a little child on the head before sending the child off to school, the Holy Spirit said to me in a lovely tone, “Okay, let’s go about your day.”

I never noticed it until just now; He used the word “let’s,” which is the abbreviation for; “let us” go about your day. Even though I was leaving my place of prayer, the Holy Spirit was packing His lunch and going with me. He had no intention of letting me go alone!

Though I was going to work, He was going with me, just as He commissioned the disciples to go out before us. You may not be going to a pulpit today, but you’re still going out for Jesus. Chances are there will be someone you have to forgive, and for their sakes, forgive them of their sin so that the Lord won’t have to hold them to it.

The choice is yours.

He is; “Jehovah Shalom”

The Lord is Peace
