Finding His Place April 23

Psalm 91:1

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

This Psalm plants a vivid image in one's imagination, but what kind of image should we imagine? Some people would think a home, others the shade of a tree. But let's look at this from God's perspective.

The word dwells could imply a few things; to judge, which implies that we consider our actions and thoughts through God's standard, or to sit or even marry into God's ways.

Shelter, where would God have shelter? Somewhere above as we see He is positioned here by calling Himself: The Most High, this shelter is set above us, above our thoughts and limitations of the flesh we see this in: Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Rest in the shadow of the almighty. That shade tree you're resting under happens to be God. Have you ever been talking with someone and their back is to the sun? Politely they raise their hand to block the sun out of your eyes so that you can see.

When you're in God's presence, He will open your eyes so you can see clearly. A stressful situation suddenly doesn't look quite so bad.

It can be a tough place to reach when you're so stressed out that you can hardly pray, but learn to pray under stress, sing a song of praise.
